VISTA position announcement:
Open position at Utah Valley University
Start date is July 6, 2010


Make a difference in your community! Become a VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) volunteer with the Campus-Community Outreach Project. A VISTA volunteer is needed to assist Utah Valley University’s Volunteer & Service-Learning Center to develop sustainable partnerships with community organizations. This is a one-year national service position. VISTAs receive a modest living allowance ($865/month) and $4,725 in an educational award upon successful completion of service.

REQUIREMENTS: College degree is preferred, but not necessary; strong interest and experience in college service programs; experience working with students and diverse groups of people; leadership ability; public speaking skills; strong writing and organizational skills; ability to drive; ability to make a full-year commitment. Start date is July 6, 2010.

BENEFITS: Health coverage, childcare assistance (if eligible), $4,725 education award upon successful completion of service, living allowance of $865/month, relocation allowance, public transportation pass, paid vacation and sick days.

The Campus-Community Outreach Project is an AmeriCorps*VISTA program sponsored by the Corporation for National and Community Service. This three-year project (2009-2012) places VISTAs at partnering colleges/universities in Utah, where they focus on leveraging campus resources to meet poverty-related community needs. 

Sites include the Volunteer & Service-Learning Center at Utah Valley University, the Community Writing Center and Thayne Center for Service & Learning at Salt Lake Community College, the Community Involvement Center at Weber State University and Utah Campus Compact.
